Registered CQC Manager & Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
View research publications →What is a CQC Registered Manager?
Dr Serap Akmal is the Registered Manager of The Harley Street Hospital — a person registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to manage the regulated activities the hospital provides.
Like the registered provider, a Registered Manager is a "registered person" with legal responsibility for meeting the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and its associated Regulations — the standards that govern how a service is run. In practice, this means ensuring that day-to-day care is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led: the five questions the CQC asks of every service it inspects.
The Registered Manager provides the clinical and operational leadership that keeps the hospital compliant, safe and patient-focused — overseeing standards of care and hygiene, governance and risk, staff competence, and the experience of every patient who passes through our doors.
