With over 20 years of experience, Mrs Rola Shamlakh is a highly skilled senior physiotherapist. She has worked across a range of national and international healthcare settings, including serving as a Physiotherapist Field Officer for the International Red Cross, and as an on-call rehabilitation specialist with UK-Med, contributing her expertise in emergency and humanitarian contexts. Her approach focuses on personalised, evidence-based treatment plans that reduce pain, build strength and restore optimal function.
Expertise in spinal physiotherapy
Mrs Shamlakh is a key member of our spinal team and a specialist in the physiotherapy management of the spine. She works hand-in-hand with our consultant spinal surgeons through every stage of the patient journey — from pre-operative preparation, which helps patients enter surgery as strong and well-conditioned as possible, to expert post-operative rehabilitation that supports a safe, rapid and lasting recovery. This close, multidisciplinary working is central to the rapid-recovery and day-case approach for which the hospital is known.
Drawing on many years working alongside The Spine Team, she has developed particular skill in the conservative (non-surgical) management of spinal conditions — helping a great many patients avoid surgery altogether through targeted rehabilitation, education and a graded return to activity.
